Here is my first entry - Why Do I Take Pictures?
Good question!!!
I used to take lots of pictures when my 3 girls were wee. I did this so I could have a memory of them growing up. So I suppose that answers that one.
To keep memories alive.
To keep memories alive.
There is nothing like a picture to conjure up a memory be it a holiday, birthday or a special day you want to never forget.
However together with that I now like to take photographs of things that I think are visually pleasing - at least to me. Like flowers, landscapes and sunsets.
Here are a few I took over the last year.
I really love to take pictures - I have an awful lot to learn but they say practice makes perfect - so I should get there hopefully :))
I welcome any feed back and comments.

Hello Ellie, What a wonderful choice of photos. I have a real soft spot for the second one of dripping water creating quite a magical moment! I also love photo number three with all those gorgeous coloured petals and drops of water on them. You really capture water so well and manage to make it so fresh and vibrant! I enjoyed joining you on the start of your journey!
ReplyDeletei love your photos...esp the water droplet, what a great capture! i can tell that this class is going to be so much fun. And what a lucky gal to win this class!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie it is great to be sharing this journey with you, I love the clear focus in your images & I especially love the landscapes of the field & the bridge. Looking forward to seeing more of your images.
ReplyDeleteThese are all great, but an especially amazing capture with the water dropping ( from the faucet) . Very cool. Have you started the new class already with Kat??? Bet that is going to be lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteOH, and just signed up to follow you on your progress in this course. Fun and will look forward to see how you are progressing
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting how so many of us started taking photos to capture our children's growth, and how it deepens into something more as time progresses. Beautiful images. I am so happy to have you in the course!
ReplyDeleteEllie these are just delicious. I've known several people who have taken this course and it's been a real eye-opener for them! I think you're going to have a lot of fun. wishing you all the best in 2012. happy day to you.
ReplyDeleteYou take wonderful photos! I think you are well on your way to perfection!
ReplyDeleteI love the water droplets, reflections are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThose water drops are amazing. Interesting how water speaks to you. It's featured in almost all the photos you shared. The light in the one of the water beneath the bridge is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie,
ReplyDeleteI love your initial motivation is to keep memories alive. There is such poignancy in that. It's interesting, but my dad suffers with Alzheimers and lives in a memory care facility. The ONLY thing that keeps him focussed and "in the moment" is his book of photographs we put together of his life. For s ome reason when he looks at photographs, he can name the people and relay a story. Photos truly DO keep memories alive.
Kathy
What gorgeous photos...and how wonderful that you won a class!
ReplyDeleteI love the variety of photos you have displayed here! I am a translated east coast girl living in the middle of America - so the pictures of the beach with the splashing waves really spoke to me. I could almost feel the splash on my face :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie. It is so nice to meet you in our class together. Your photographs are beautiful. The giant wave breaking over the sea wall really caught my eye. I wondered if you lived near me, along the New England (USA) Atlantic coastline and saw that indeed you are quite far away. Maybe I've read to many books, but I have a romanticized kind of idea as to what Scotland must be like. Even though we are all far from each other, we are all so similiar in our answers as to why we photograph!
ReplyDeleteI think you might be part water spirit - since most of your photos incorporate it. You clearly convey its range from delicate sparkle to gentle pooling to fierce power. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.
